Recruited from the National Bank Amateurs in the VAFA, David Prescott joined St Kilda in 1960 as the club began its slow ascent from the bottom of the VFL ladder. He served as a capable forward option for the Saints, managing to boot seven goals across 13 senior appearances during a period where the team was gradually assembling the nucleus of its future premiership side. Although unable to cement a permanent spot in the starting lineup and departing Moorabbin after the 1961 season, his contribution to the game extended to the next generation. He is the father of Ashley Prescott, who played over 100 games for Richmond and Fremantle in the 1990s and 2000s before becoming a prominent coach at state and AFL level.
