Bio
Recruited from Wodonga, David Pretty was a versatile defender and wingman who served North Melbourne during the club's transitional phase in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He managed 58 games over five seasons at Arden Street, providing steady defensive coverage and run on the flanks, but departed the club just prior to the famous Ron Barassi premiership era. Pretty moved to the WAFL to join Perth in 1974, where he arguably played the finest football of his career. His legacy is defined by his performance in the 1974 WAFL Grand Final; despite Perth suffering a defeat to East Fremantle, Pretty was so dominant that he was awarded the Simpson Medal as best on ground, sharing the honour with opponent Gary Gibellini.
