Bio
Recruited from Brighton Grammar, David Shepherd was a talented dual-sport athlete who progressed through St Kilda’s pathway system to claim the club’s Under-19 Best and Fairest award. Standing just 173cm, the diminutive rover earned his senior debut in 1976, managing four VFL appearances across two seasons and booting a solitary goal against South Melbourne. While his top-level football career was brief, Shepherd found greater longevity on the cricket pitch, eventually captaining the Melbourne Cricket Club and representing Victoria in the Sheffield Shield. He later established a distinguished career in education, most notably serving as the long-time Principal of Ballarat Clarendon College.
