Bio
A towering key defender recruited from Oakleigh Districts, David Winbanks offered a formidable physical presence in the backline during the Swans' historic transition period. Standing 193cm, he debuted for South Melbourne before trekking north as part of the pioneering group that established the club in Sydney. While he served as a useful tall option in defence during the Swans' early years in the Harbour City, he eventually sought a return to Victoria, linking up with St Kilda for the 1984 season. His time at Moorabbin proved fleeting, however, as he managed just two senior appearances for the Saints before his VFL career came to a close.
