Bio
Arriving at the Maroons from Coburg, Davitt Coghlan was the younger brother of Geelong premiership captain-coach Arthur "Bull" Coghlan. While his sibling forged a reputation as one of the era's toughest ruckmen, Davitt was a medium-sized utility who made his senior debut as a 17-year-old in 1925. He struggled to command a permanent spot in the Fitzroy lineup, enduring a two-season absence from league football before returning to play the majority of his career matches between 1928 and 1930. Unable to secure a long-term future in Victoria, he received a clearance to Western Australia in 1931 during the Great Depression and later served with the RAAF during the Second World War.
