Stats
Bio
A towering recruit from North Ballarat, Dean Herbert provided St Kilda with a formidable aerial presence during the difficult seasons of the late 1970s and early 1980s. Standing 198cm, he was a classic ruck-forward utility who used his imposing frame to contest marking duels and provide relief for the midfield division. His career highlight came during the dramatic draw against Richmond in Round 3, 1980, where he proved a handful for the Tigers' defence and booted five goals in a commanding display at the MCG. Despite this glimpse of dominance, Herbert found it difficult to secure a permanent lock on a senior spot, ultimately playing 22 games over three seasons before finishing his VFL tenure in 1981.
