Stats
Bio
Recruited from Old Paradians, Denis Dalton progressed through the Collingwood ranks to finish runner-up in the club's 1961 Under-19s best and fairest count. A diminutive rover standing just 170cm, he broke into the senior lineup in 1964 and found himself on the biggest stage of all during his debut season, selected to play in the Grand Final against Melbourne. Dalton kicked a goal from the forward pocket in that decider, though the Magpies ultimately fell short by four points in a famous contest. Unable to cement a long-term place in the senior side, he departed Victoria Park after just nine games and moved to the VFA, where he thrived for Preston and finished equal-third in the 1967 J.J. Liston Trophy.
