Bio
Recruited from Eaglehawk in the Bendigo Football League, Denis Strauch arrived at Princes Park in 1957 and made an immediate impact as a forward. He played 19 of his 29 career games in his debut season, showing promise as a capable goal-kicker, but struggled to maintain a permanent place in the senior side over the subsequent three years. Unable to secure a regular spot in the Blues' starting lineup, he crossed to the VFA to play for Port Melbourne in 1961, where he became a solid contributor for the Borough. His career and life were tragically cut short in 1965 when he died at the age of 28 following a tetanus infection.
