Bio
Hailing from a prominent fishing family on the Bellarine Peninsula, Denis Zanoni was recruited from Queenscliff to bolster Geelong's defensive stocks in the early 1960s. The medium-sized defender donned the number 11 jumper and played a checking brand of football in the back half, failing to trouble the scorers across his three seasons at the club. Although he saw sporadic action during the Cats' rebuilding phase under Bob Davis, he struggled to lock down a permanent position in the senior 18 as the team's list depth improved with the arrival of stars like 'Polly' Farmer. Zanoni managed only a single senior appearance in 1962 as the club surged toward finals contention, ultimately departing Kardinia Park just one year before the side claimed the famous 1963 premiership.
