Teams

Recruited from Swan Districts with pick 46 in the 2006 National Draft, Dennis Armfield carved out a respectable career at Carlton based on raw speed and selfless team-first football. Initially deployed as a dashing defender capable of breaking lines, he eventually found his niche as a high-pressure defensive forward. While he was never the most technically gifted player in the lineup, his relentless chasing, tackling, and willingness to perform unglamorous tagging roles made him a favourite among supporters and coaches alike.

Armfield's legacy at Princes Park extends beyond his on-field efforts, as he became a genuine cult hero known for his infectious enthusiasm and significant off-field contributions. His dedication to charity work saw him awarded the prestigious Jim Stynes Community Leadership Award in 2015. Although injuries and a youth-focused rebuild limited his opportunities in his final seasons, he retired in 2017 as a celebrated one-club player who had maximised his natural attributes through sheer hard work and determination.
