Bio
Recruited from the Reservoir Colts, Dennis Aspinall was a diminutive rover and forward pocket who graduated through the Lions' under-19s program to break into the senior side in 1966. Standing just 168cm, Aspinall was a dual-sport athlete who also competed professionally as a sprinter in the Stawell Gift, utilizing that electric pace to harass defenders and hit the scoreboard. He managed a respectable return of 10 goals from his nine senior appearances, maintaining a better than one-goal-per-game average, but his light frame made it difficult to hold a regular spot in the top flight. He departed Fitzroy after the 1967 season and moved to Eltham in the Diamond Valley Football League, where he immediately proved his quality by winning the league's best and fairest award in 1968.
