Bio
Selected with pick six in the 2020 National Draft from Swan Districts, Denver Grainger-Barras arrived at Hawthorn as a highly touted key defender renowned for his athleticism and intercept marking ability. Despite his high draft pedigree, the West Australian struggled to cement a regular position in the senior side under Sam Mitchell, often finding himself on the fringe of selection due to injury and inconsistent form at state league level. While primarily a backman, he was occasionally swung forward in an attempt to utilise his aerial traits inside 50, resulting in a handful of goals during the 2023 season. Ultimately unable to secure a long-term role within the Hawks' developing defensive unit, Grainger-Barras was delisted at the conclusion of the 2024 season.
