Bio
Recruited from Surrey Hills, Derek Feldmann arrived at Melbourne as the younger brother of teammate Rick Feldmann and made an immediate impact, winning the reserves best and fairest in his debut season. A solid defender who settled comfortably into a back pocket role, he established himself in the senior side during 1968 before severe ankle ligament damage interrupted his progress the following year. Although the injury restricted his senior appearances in 1969, he recovered sufficiently to feature in the club’s reserves premiership side. After missing the entire 1971 season, he crossed to St Kilda for a brief three-game stint in 1972 before retiring. He maintained a strong connection to the Demons post-career, serving the club as a committeeman until 1979.
