Bio
Born into the inner sanctum of the Melbourne Football Club as the son of long-serving club doctor and administrator Dr Crawford Mollison, Derek Mollison continued the family's deep association with the Redlegs after arriving from Melbourne Grammar. A dashing and reliable half-back flanker, he became a fixture in the side during the club's resurgence in the mid-1920s, providing defensive stability behind a talented midfield. His career highlight came in 1926, where he played an instrumental role in the Grand Final victory over Collingwood, helping to break a 26-year premiership drought for the club. Despite his talent, Mollison's career was relatively brief as he retired after the 1928 season to focus on his own medical career, leaving the game as a one-club premiership player.
