Bio
Recruited from Raywood in central Victoria, Des Cole was a tall utility who joined St Kilda during a particularly lean era for the club. He arrived at the Junction Oval in 1954, standing 183cm, and was immediately thrown into a side that would eventually claim the wooden spoon. Cole managed seven senior appearances in his debut season but struggled to cement a regular spot in the lineup as the Saints endured another bottom-placed finish the following year. He added just one final game in early 1955 before departing the VFL scene, concluding his brief career with eight games and no goals.
