Bio
Recruited from Robinvale in the Sunraysia Football League, Dick Vandenberg was a mid-sized forward who made a fleeting appearance for Carlton during the 1966 season. Standing 183cm, the teenager was brought into the senior lineup under legendary coach Ron Barassi as the Blues looked to test their depth, managing to boot two goals across his three senior games. While he showed he could hit the scoreboard at VFL level, Vandenberg found himself trying to break into a powerful list that was on the verge of a premiership dynasty. Unable to secure a regular spot ahead of the club's established stars, his career at Princes Park was restricted to that single season, leaving him as a footnote in Carlton's history as a young country recruit who briefly cracked the big time.
