Bio
Born Edward Slann Kishere, Dick Walker adopted the surname of his stepfather and established himself as a reliable forward during the transitional era between the VFA and VFL. A Geelong local who initially cut his teeth with the Pivotonians in the VFA from 1893, he missed the club's inaugural VFL campaign in 1897 before returning the following season to boot 10 goals in 14 games. Walker was a dangerous option near goal for his era, capable of hitting the scoreboard consistently, but he surprisingly crossed to Carlton for the 1899 season. He played a lone year with the Blues, managing another respectable goal tally, before retiring from VFL football to become a prominent Geelong businessman as the long-time proprietor of Annears Furnishing Warehouse in Ryrie Street.
