Bio
Recruited from the VAFA powerhouse University Blues, Dick Wilcox was a talented amateur footballer who tested his skills at the VFL level with South Melbourne in the late 1960s. Standing 180cm, he was a mid-sized utility capable of filling various gaps in the lineup, making his debut in 1967 to provide depth for the Swans. While he was a revered figure at his amateur club, Wilcox found it difficult to command a permanent spot in the senior side at the Lake Oval, serving primarily as a fringe player who drifted in and out of the selected 18. His brief career at the top level concluded at the end of 1968 after 14 games, standing as a classic example of a skilled "Ammo" who made the step up for a short but respectable stint in the big league.
