Bio
Recruited from Devonport with the third overall pick in the 1989 National Draft, Dion Scott arrived at the Sydney Swans with high expectations as a talented key position prospect. After three seasons in the Harbour City where he struggled to cement a permanent role during a financially and competitively tumultuous period for the club, he was traded to the Brisbane Bears ahead of the 1993 season. A tall utility capable of imposing himself as a marking forward or holding down a key defensive post, Scott became a serviceable contributor during the Bears' ascent under Robert Walls, featuring in the club's historic 1996 preliminary final campaign. He retained his spot on the list following the merger with Fitzroy to form the Brisbane Lions, but persistent injuries and increased competition for key posts restricted his opportunities in the new era. Ultimately delisted at the end of 1999, Scott departed having played a role in laying the foundations for the Brisbane dynasty that followed, even if he missed out on the club's ultimate success in the early 2000s.
