Bio
Recruited from local club Seddon, Don Brown was a lightly-framed small forward and midfielder who debuted for Footscray as an 18-year-old in 1971. Weighing just 71kg, he relied on his agility and goal sense to compete at the top level, booting 15 goals in his 29 appearances over four seasons at the Western Oval. Brown was deeply entrenched in the club's western suburbs heritage, being the cousin of future Bulldog Lee Collins and part of a wider local footballing family. Following his departure from the VFL at the end of 1974, he continued his involvement in the region's football scene, notably serving as an assistant coach to David Thorpe at VFA club Yarraville in 1977.
