Bio
Recruited from Kew Amateurs in the VAFA, Don Fletcher faced the difficult task of breaking into a Hawthorn lineup that was in the midst of a golden era. Standing 175cm, the small forward and utility made a promising start to his VFL career, booting two goals on debut against North Melbourne at Arden Street in Round 13, 1976. He retained his spot for six consecutive matches during that premiership season, playing a supporting role in a team stacked with legends like Leigh Matthews and Michael Tuck, but was ultimately squeezed out of the side just prior to the finals campaign. Fletcher managed only one further senior appearance in 1977 before departing the club, his career serving as a brief cameo during one of the Hawks' most dominant periods.
