Arriving at Arden Street from West Melbourne, Don Gibson broke into the North Melbourne senior side early in the 1929 season. He made his debut in a Round 4 victory over Hawthorn but found himself on the fringes of selection, managing only two further appearances later in the year. Unable to cement a regular position in the starting eighteen, Gibson's VFL career was confined to a brief three-game stint during that single season.
