Bio
A product of the elite private school system, Don McKellar arrived at Melbourne via Wesley College, where he had captained the school's football team. Despite this strong pedigree as a junior leader, he found it difficult to cement a regular spot in the senior lineup, managing just two appearances in his debut 1903 season. After spending the entire 1904 campaign out of the side, he returned for a final two-game stint in 1905 but was unable to impact the scoreboard or secure a long-term position. McKellar was eventually cleared to the short-lived University club in 1909—a common pathway for Wesley alumni—but he never played a senior match for the Students, leaving his VFL career as a brief, four-game cameo in the Redlegs' early history.
