Bio
A blond rover hailing from Colac, Don Nicolson managed a brief but promising stint in the VFL before work commitments took precedence. He played his five games for Essendon in the early rounds of the 1959 season on match permits, but the demands of business forced him to return to the country rather than pursuing a permanent career at Windy Hill. Back in the Hampden League, Nicolson established himself as a premier local talent, capping his on-field career by winning the league's Best and Fairest award in 1963. His contribution to country football extended well beyond his playing days, as he went on to captain-coach South Colac and later served as president of the Colac Football Club in the late 1970s.
