Bio
Recruited from local side North Geelong, Don O'Hara was a homegrown talent who progressed through the Cats' developmental pathway, featuring in the thirds as a centreman as early as 1951. He faced the unenviable task of breaking into a Geelong squad at the peak of its powers, with the club having secured premierships in 1951 and 1952 under Reg Hickey. O'Hara finally earned his senior debut in Round 5, 1954, against Hawthorn at Glenferrie Oval, serving as a mid-sized utility in a team brimming with stars like Bob Davis and Peter Pianto. He managed two further appearances that season, including a recall for the final match of the home-and-away campaign against Carlton as the Cats secured the minor premiership. Despite being in the selection frame on the eve of September, he was squeezed out of the side for the finals series by the club's incredible depth, leaving his VFL career at three games.
