Bio
Recruited from the Ovens and Murray region, Don Star joined South Melbourne for the 1954 season after impressive stints with Granya and Wodonga. A capable forward and rover, he managed 16 goals across his 20 senior appearances at the Lake Oval, showing promise during a lean era for the club. His time in the VFL was ultimately a brief chapter in a marathon career; he returned home to the family farm after the 1955 season and became a country football legend, captain-coaching Jindera to premiership success and playing over 350 combined senior games in the bush.
