Bio
Recruited from East Brighton, Doug Booth made a memorable entry into VFL football in 1976, debuting off the bench as St Kilda overturned a 44-point deficit to upset Hawthorn. A running utility with elite endurance, he struggled for senior opportunities in 1977 but established himself as a regular contributor in 1978, a season highlighted by his victory in the Avis Grand Final Mile. However, his year is often remembered for a bizarre moment during the Queen's Birthday clash against Collingwood, where he infamously lashed out at a stray dog that had wandered onto the field. After a three-year hiatus from the league, Booth returned for a final stint in 1982, ending his career after a record-breaking loss to the Swans. He later transitioned into a successful career in academia, serving as a Dean at the University of Otago.
