Stats
Bio
Recruited from local club Armadale, Doug Bourne was a diminutive wingman and rover who battled gamely during a particularly lean era for St Kilda. Standing just 168cm, the lightweight midfielder relied on his agility and persistence to hold his place in the side, accumulating 48 games across six tough seasons that saw the club claim two wooden spoons. His time at the Junction Oval came to a close in early 1936 when he was involved in a swap deal that sent him to Melbourne in exchange for Don Hooper. Bourne failed to break into the Demons' senior lineup, eventually moving on to Prahran in the VFA where he enjoyed a steady five-year tenure.
