Bio
Recruited from Ramsey, Doug Gott was a durable big man who spent much of his career at Victoria Park supporting legendary ruckman Len Thompson. Consequently, Gott often operated as a second ruckman or rotated forward, where his aerial strength provided a contest even if his finishing was occasionally wayward. He featured in the Magpies' infamous 1970 Grand Final loss to Carlton, starting on a half-forward flank, but eventually saw his senior opportunities diminish with the emergence of future star Peter Moore. A popular clubman who served Collingwood for nearly a decade, Gott fell just three games short of the 100-game milestone before departing the club following the 1977 season.
