Stats
Bio
Recruited from local western suburbs club Albion, Doug Prior was a dangerous forward who displayed a sharp eye for goal during his short time with Footscray. After a quiet initiation to VFL football in 1966, Prior elevated his game significantly the following season, emerging as a genuine scoring threat. He booted 18 goals in just seven games during 1967—including a career-high bag of five—scoring at a prolific rate of over 2.5 goals per game. Despite appearing to have established himself as a key component of the Bulldogs' attack, his senior career came to an abrupt halt at the age of 23, leaving him as a player who showed flashes of brilliance without the longevity to match.
