Bio
Recruited from SANFL powerhouse Port Adelaide, Dwayne Russell arrived at Geelong in 1987 as a talented forward capable of strong overhead marking and scoreboard impact. While injuries hampered his consistency and restricted him to 50 senior appearances over five seasons, he secured a place in Malcolm Blight's attacking setup during the Cats' late-80s resurgence, notably playing in the iconic 1989 Grand Final against Hawthorn. Russell concluded his VFL/AFL tenure after the 1991 season to return to the Magpies in South Australia, where he enjoyed further premiership success before establishing a long-term media career as a prominent television and radio commentator.
