Bio
Arriving at Carlton with the weight of history on his shoulders, Dylan Buckley was recruited as a father-son selection, following in the footsteps of his three-time premiership-winning father, Jim. Primarily a small utility who relied on line-breaking speed and enthusiasm, Buckley was utilised as both a rebounding defender and a pressure forward during his time at Princes Park. Despite showing flashes of promise, his tenure with the Blues was hampered by inconsistent form and recurring injuries, leading to his delisting at the end of 2017. He was thrown a lifeline by Greater Western Sydney in the rookie draft to add depth to the Giants' list, yet he struggled to cement a spot in the senior side. Buckley managed just two appearances in two seasons for the Giants before departing the AFL system in 2019, concluding a career defined more by his persistence than on-field longevity.
