Recruited from Melton, Ed Considine was a lightning-quick wingman and half-back flanker whose career was defined by his blistering pace and ability to break lines. Best remembered by many fans for winning the AFL Grand Final Sprint, he was a fringe player during Essendon's dominant era in the mid-1980s before earning a spot in the side that contested the 1990 Grand Final loss to Collingwood. Considine was traded to Sydney prior to the 1993 season—narrowly missing the Bombers' premiership success that year—where he brought valuable experience to a rebuilding Swans outfit. He became a reliable contributor during Sydney's resurgence in the mid-1990s and featured in the 1996 Grand Final loss to North Melbourne, ultimately retiring as a two-time premiership runner-up who played his best football on the expansive wings of the SCG.
