Bio
Originally selected by Adelaide in the 2008 rookie draft, Ed Curnow spent a season on the Crows' list without breaking into the senior side before being delisted. After proving his fitness and form in the VFL with Box Hill, he was recruited by Carlton in the 2011 rookie draft, eventually playing alongside his younger brother, Charlie. Curnow carved out a niche as one of the league's most effective run-with players, utilising his elite aerobic capacity to wear down opposition stars while still winning plenty of his own contested ball.
A heart-and-soul player for the Blues during a turbulent on-field era, Curnow was a constant presence in the top tier of the club's best and fairest voting. His selfless playstyle and dedication to training saw him elevated to the leadership group, where he served as a key mentor for the club's rebuilding list. He retired at the end of 2023 after 221 games, departing as a Carlton life member and a celebrated example of perseverance and professionalism.
