Bio
Recruited to North Melbourne with pick 30 in the 2005 National Draft, Ed Lower was a hard-nosed utility whose career was defined by both his courageous attack on the contest and a frustrating run of injuries. The twin brother of fellow AFL player Nick Lower, Ed established himself as a versatile operator at Arden Street, capable of playing off half-back or in a defensive midfield tagging role where his tackling pressure was highly valued. Although he enjoyed his most consistent patch of football in 2010, his time in the system was constantly interrupted by setbacks, including a broken fibula and chronic knee problems. After being delisted and re-rookied by the Kangaroos for the 2011 season, he managed a final few appearances before degenerative knee issues forced him into premature retirement, leaving him as a player of unfulfilled potential who managed 42 games largely through grit and determination.
