Bio
Born in Healesville, Eddie Brown was a brief contributor to South Melbourne during the pioneering years of the VFL. Recruited from Caulfield, he broke into the senior side for the opening round of the 1898 season and held his place for the first five consecutive fixtures of the year. He managed to boot a solitary goal during his short tenure at the Lake Oval, but his time at the elite level concluded almost as quickly as it began, with his VFL career wrapping up before the midpoint of the season. Following his fleeting stint in the league, Brown eventually returned to his native Healesville where he established himself as a guest house proprietor.
