Emerging as one of the premier wingmen of the early VFL era, Eddie "Snowy" Drohan was a pivotal figure in the league's formative years. He began his career with Fitzroy, where his blistering pace and clever ball use helped establish the Maroons as an early powerhouse. Drohan's influence on the outside was immediate, playing a crucial role in Fitzroy's back-to-back premierships in 1898 and 1899. A fair player known for his dash and ability to deliver the ball into the forward line with precision, he was widely regarded as one of the most skillful centremen of his time.

In 1903, Drohan made a high-profile switch to arch-rivals Collingwood, a move that yielded immediate dividends. He slotted seamlessley into the Magpies' lineup and secured his third premiership medallion in his debut season at Victoria Park, becoming one of the select few players of the era to taste ultimate success at two different clubs. He spent six seasons with Collingwood, maintaining his reputation as a top-tier midfielder and regularly earning selection for Victoria in interstate contests. By the time he concluded his career in 1908, Drohan had cemented a legacy as a three-time premiership player who combined speed with elite decision-making.
