Bio
Hailing from Echuca, Eddie Jackson was an electric talent who arrived at Melbourne under the wing of club great and fellow townsman Jack Mueller. As one of the Demons' first Indigenous players, the 175cm speedster made an immediate impact, claiming the club's Best First Year Player award in 1947 with his agility, reflexes, and neat disposal. Jackson’s playstyle was defined by his ability to break lines and find space, a skill set that saw him selected for both the famous 1948 Grand Final draw and the premiership-winning replay against Essendon. Despite his obvious class, his tenure at the top level was frequently interrupted by ankle and hernia injuries, eventually forcing him back to country football where he promptly won a Michelsen Medal in the Bendigo League.
