Bio
A late-blooming recruit from Fitzroy, Edwin Blencowe waited until the relatively advanced age of 29 to make his VFL debut for South Melbourne. Standing 180cm—a significant height for the era—he offered the Bloods a tall option likely utilised in defence or as a backup follower. He broke into the side late in the 1905 season, retaining his spot for the semi-final loss to Collingwood, but found opportunities scarce the following year. His senior career was ultimately fleeting, comprising just seven games across two seasons before he moved on from league football, remaining a minor footnote in the club’s Federation-era history.
