Bio
Recruited from the Western Jets with pick 19 in the 2011 National Draft, Elliott Kavanagh arrived at Essendon with high expectations as a smooth-moving midfielder known for his elite endurance and poise. Despite his promising junior profile, his time at Tullamarine was significantly hampered by recurring soft-tissue injuries, particularly hamstring strains, which prevented him from building the continuity required to cement a spot in the senior lineup. He struggled to translate his strong VFL form into the AFL arena, often finding himself on the fringe of selection during a turbulent period for the club. Ultimately unable to fulfill the potential of a first-round selection, Kavanagh managed just 12 games across four seasons before being delisted at the conclusion of 2015.
