Stats
Bio
Recruited from the Goulburn Valley town of Stanhope via the Wesley College football program, Ellis Hicks was a tall prospect who joined South Melbourne for the 1956 season. Standing 188cm, he possessed the physical attributes of a commanding key position player or follower and broke into the senior lineup for five games, registering a single goal. While he offered the Bloods a potential structural option, his VFL tenure remained limited to that solitary year at the Lake Oval. His career is remembered for its tragic brevity, as he passed away in 1961 at the age of just 26, leaving his football potential largely unexplored.
