Bio
Born in regional Victoria but raised in Western Australia, Eric Chalmers was a diminutive rover and forward who joined Richmond from South Fremantle. The son of former Footscray player James Chalmers, he crossed the Nullarbor to test himself in the VFL during the 1924 season. Standing just 168cm, he rotated through the forward pocket but found it difficult to command a permanent spot in a powerful Tigers lineup that finished the home-and-away season on top of the ladder. He eventually returned to the WAFL in 1926 to finish his playing days with South Fremantle, but his life was tragically cut short in Perth at the age of just 29.
