Bio
Recruited from Milawa in the Ovens and King Association, Eric Dalton arrived at Victoria Park with a reputation as a teenage match-winner who could turn games off his own boot. He made his debut for Collingwood in Round 8, 1932, showing early promise on a wing before a collarbone injury interrupted his maiden season. After being let go by the Magpies and suffering a broken ankle during a brief, non-playing stint with Footscray's reserves, Dalton found a second chance at Essendon in 1934. Standing 175cm, he reinvented himself as a goal-kicking ruck-rover at Windy Hill, booting four goals in his first appearance for the club. Despite his versatility and "game" nature, injuries and bad luck curtailed his VFL career after just eight matches across two clubs. Dalton eventually found longevity as a country football legend in the Ballarat region, where he became a Team of the Century inductee for Redan and famously played in two separate premierships for two different clubs in the same week in 1946.
