Bio
Recruited from the Gippsland town of Lang Lang, Eric Donaldson arrived at Melbourne in 1923 and quickly slotted into the defensive setup. Operating primarily as a centre half-back, he played five games in his debut season and added another eight the following year, tasked with repelling opposition attacks during a transitional period for the Redlegs. Despite his efforts to establish himself as a key pillar in defence, his VFL tenure was brief, and he was cleared back to Lang Lang midway through the 1925 season. He departed just a year before Melbourne's premiership breakthrough but remained a respected figure at his local club, eventually serving as a non-playing coach in the 1930s.
