Stats
Bio
Recruited from East Fremantle after tasting premiership success in the WAFL, Eric "Tarzan" Glass was lured to Melbourne in 1933 with the offer of employment on the MCG ground staff. Though initially deployed as a follower, the powerful Western Australian played his best football as a forward, where his brute strength and ferocious attack on the ball made him a formidable partner for a young Norm Smith. He topped the club’s goalkicking in 1936, but his time at the top level ended prematurely when he suffered a severe ankle injury during a mid-season exhibition match against his former WAFL side. Glass eventually recovered to become a VFA icon with Williamstown, winning two more flags and earning selection in their Team of the Century on either side of his service in World War II.
