Bio
Hailing from Latrobe in Tasmania, Eric Parsons was a recruit whose VFL career was strictly limited by the outbreak of the Great War. He broke into the Melbourne side during the tumultuous 1914 season, managing just two senior appearances as the club struggled for consistency during its informal alignment with the crumbling University side. Parsons enlisted in the 22nd Battalion in mid-1915, but his football journey was brought to a premature halt when he was severely wounded in action. While former teammate Charles Lilley managed to return to the field despite war injuries, Parsons was unable to resume his place at the top level, leaving him as one of the many "what if" stories of a generation whose sporting prime was sacrificed to the conflict.
