Bio
A recruit from Shepparton who arrived at Melbourne with a hardened edge following World War II service in New Guinea and the Solomon Islands, Eric Roscoe was a short, solidly built rover capable of making an impact on the scoreboard. After winning the Central Goulburn Valley League Best and Fairest in 1947, he broke into the Demons' lineup during their famous 1948 campaign, playing 12 matches and booting 11 goals as a rotating small forward. despite being a regular contributor during the home-and-away season, Roscoe unfortunately lost his place in the side prior to the finals, missing out on the club's historic Grand Final replay victory over Essendon. He retained his spot for the opening five rounds of the 1949 season but was delisted as the reigning premiers struggled, eventually moving on to captain-coach Caulfield.
