Bio
Recruited from Korumburra in South Gippsland, Eric Wilson was a towering figure for his era, standing at an imposing 193cm. The giant ruckman and key position prospect arrived at the Lake Oval in 1966, offering significant height to a South Melbourne outfit that was often searching for aerial dominance. Despite his obvious physical advantages, Wilson found it difficult to cement a regular spot in the senior lineup, managing a cluster of six appearances in the middle of his debut season before spending the majority of the following year in the reserves. He was recalled for a solitary senior game in the final round of 1967 against Geelong before departing the VFL scene, remembered as a piece of tall timber who could not quite bridge the gap to regular senior football.
