Bio
A testament to persistence, Erich Lissenden endured a seven-year wait between his first draft selection and his senior debut. Originally a key position prospect from Neerim-Neerim South, he was first recruited by North Melbourne in the late 1980s—topping the club's Under 19s goalkicking in 1990—but was delisted without a senior game. After a brief stint on Essendon's list via the mid-season draft and a return to country football with Warragul Industrials, the Kangaroos handed him a lifeline as a mature-age recruit for the 1996 season. The 193cm forward finally earned his stripes in Round 14 of that premiership-winning year, debuting in a victory over Carlton at the MCG. However, trying to hold down a key forward spot in a side boasting Wayne Carey and Corey McKernan proved an impossible task, and Lissenden's top-level career concluded after just two senior appearances.
