Bio
A steadfast defender known as "Puffer," Ern Elliott was a key pillar in Fitzroy's backline throughout the 1920s. Operating primarily as a half-back flanker, he was renowned for his discipline and ability to shut down dangerous forwards, a trait that saw him go his entire 95-game VFL career without kicking a goal. Elliott was instrumental in the Maroons' 1922 premiership triumph over Collingwood and backed up that performance in the 1923 Grand Final side. His consistent form was rewarded with eight selections for Victoria, representing the 'Big V' at the 1924 Hobart Carnival. He eventually departed the league to coach Wangaratta in the Ovens & Murray league before finishing his playing days with Camberwell in the VFA.
